Our Pastor
Jim Snyder became a member of
Smithfield Church as a teenager in
May of 1967. He has served in various
church positions since 1977. He was an
adult Sunday school teacher and he and his
wife Debbie served as Deacon until
becoming senior pastor in 2002.
Married since 1975, they have three adult children and eight grandchildren.
Pastor Jim graduated from Millersville University in August of 1977 with a degree in Education, with graduate work in administration and supervision at Penn State University. He retired from teaching in 2015 with 35 years of service in the Altoona and the Spring Cove school districts. Having been a school teacher, a partner in a construction company, and a Pastor, provides Pastor Jim with many real world experiences, examples and stories that have been an essential part of his ministry at Smithfield Church.

Our Official Board consists of four Deacons and two Trustees.
They are chosen to serve the church and in an advisory capacity with the Pastor in all matters pertaining to the congregation in its spiritual life.
We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of Smithfield Church as a local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to all church members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by Smithfield Church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by our Tenets of Faith.
"In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16
